About Luminary Network

Luminary is an Indigenous-led initiative designed to bridge the gap between Indigenous communities, business schools, research institutions, and industry leaders. Established in 2019/20 by Indigenous Works, Luminary serves as a catalyst for economic transformation, employment, and wellbeing through Indigenous-led research and innovation. With over 150 Luminary Charter Partners co-creating the strategy, Luminary works to remove systemic barriers, mobilize research knowledge, and drive Indigenous business growth. Our Mission: To convene, coordinate, and communicate with our national network of partners—including academic institutions, business schools, NGOs, Indigenous businesses, and industry—to provide a comprehensive platform of innovation services and programs. Our Role: Acting as a connector, facilitator, and trusted knowledge keeper, Luminary supports Indigenous-led research collaborations, innovation-driven economic growth, and the creation of new opportunities for Indigenous businesses. In 2024, Luminary was awarded $4 million from ISED’s Strategic Science Fund, making it the only Indigenous organization among 24 recipients. This five-year project will expand Indigenous innovation, increase investments in research and business development, and strengthen pathways for Indigenous talent and commercial innovation.
