About Lund Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine

The Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine (WCMM) at Lund University is part of a national initiative launched in 2014-2015, establishing four centres across Sweden at the universities of Gothenburg, Linköping, Lund, and Umeå, in collaboration with universities and healthcare regions. This initiative is backed by an initial investment of over 800 million SEK from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, supporting a ten-year mission to advance young scientists in molecular and translational medicine. With additional funding of 240 million SEK for 2025-2028, the initiative continues to strengthen Sweden's position as a leader in life sciences. WCMM Lund comprises 10 internationally recognized WCMM Fellows, complemented by 12 leading clinical researchers holding 4-year half-time positions with generous funding. These fellows and clinical researchers collaborate in various ways, creating a bridge between preclinical and clinical research to foster translational advancements. The strategy to recruit both basic scientist and clinicians enhances interdisciplinary collaboration. At WCMM Lund, our vision is to create novel breakthroughs in medicine through a strong collaborative approach between basic scientists and clinicians, a pioneering spirit and innovative leadership.
