LUPI – Lundbeck Pharmaceuticals Italy – is an Italian manufacturer of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and cGMP Intermediates, provider of API development and production services to key players in the Life Science Industry. LUPI’s story roots back to 1929, when the company was established under the name of VIS Farmaceutici (Istituto Scientifico delle Venezie) as a small family pharmaceutical business playing in the domestic market. After dismissing the pharmaceutical production, VIS Farmaceutici focused entirely on fine chemistry, becoming one of the pioneer manufacturers of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and cGMP Intermediates in Italy. Under this new set-up, the first FDA inspection was passed in 1972, starting a long series of successful international inspections that the company hosted over the years while constantly broadening its range of partners and clients. In year 2000, VIS Farmaceutici was acquired by H. Lundbeck A/S and became LUPI, an independent Business Unit of H. Lundbeck A/S. Inspected and approved by all major international Regulatory Bodies / Authorities and by FDA since 1972, LUPI offers to its customers the highest level of compliance with international standards and guidelines. With 135 m3 of total capacity, expertise on crystallization and solid mixtures, Thin Film Distillation units, Solid Phase Extraction on large scale, provided with Kilo Lab, a Pilot and small scale production Plant, a Finishing Department, and production lines all engineered for operating in Class C / ISO 7, LUPI focuses its activities on the production of speciality APIs, and those requiring high levels of containment. Today LUPI combines the reliability and standard quality of a multinational company with the flexibility and enthusiasm of the original business.
