About Lux Mundi Foundation
We are a liberal arts institute in the original sense of the word ‘liberal’. Our goal is to cultivate young people into balanced, contemplative, steadfast adults. Our curriculum follows the great books programme — i.e., studying the works that have shaped Western civilization and do so until this very day. Our identity is neither ‘progressive’ nor ‘conservative’ — instead, we are classical. Following Aristotle, we believe that every form of contemplation starts with ‘wonder’ (Met. I.2.) and a genuine quest for truth across various academic disciplines. Yet wonder needs anchorage — a star that guides the ship to its destination (cf. Aquinas, De Regno). Our anchor points are the fundamental principles of Western civilization. Specifically, man is a social creature, created Imago Dei (Gen. 1:27; cf. Caritas in Veritate) and endowed with unalienable dignity (cf. Dignitas Humanae; Dignitas Infinita) which expresses itself in a rich familial and cultural tapestry. The Son of Man teaches us: “You are the light of the world.” Amazed by the beauty of Western tradition, Lux Mundi aims to form students anew into the light of the world. LUX MUNDI values the spiritual and philosophical foundations of our civilization. We believe that education starts with standing on the shoulders of giants, and that our lives are enriched through learning the great works of our civilization. At LUX MUNDI transferring knowledge stays front and centre. Students must study. We are not a diploma factory but strive to deliver well-thought, well- articulated and wellconsidered young people. We believe that classical education should take place in an inspiring environment — not a “bare” factory building that exudes a diploma culture, but a location that (re)connects students with the roots of our civilization.
