Lynx Equity is a private equity firm that owns and operates fifty companies in various industries across North America, the United Kingdom, and Denmark. Operating exclusively in the “Small to Medium Enterprise” (SME) space, Lynx specializes in the purchase and operation of “old economy” businesses with long, proven track records and consistent cash flows. Typically, Lynx purchases businesses from owners/founders who are seeking an outright sale in the absence of another succession plan. Because of the size of the businesses under consideration, Lynx is able to purchase its portfolio companies for very competitive prices, resulting in attractive, predictable returns. Unlike other private equity groups that generally syndicate purchases through the use of limited partnership funds, Lynx finances its acquisitions in two ways: through vendors by way of “Vendor Take Back” (VTB) financing and through the issuance of high-yield debt to accredited investors across Canada. Due to a combination of competitive low purchase price multiples, mixed with low- or zero-interest VTB financing, Lynx is able to pay very attractive yields to its investors who invest through straight debt.
