Owner Terry Lyons entered the building industry in his teenage years. He worked with builders and contractors around his hometown of Henryville, Indiana, part time through his high school years. Terry joined the U.S. Army at age 18. He worked as a helicopter mechanic and instructor in duty stations like Germany, Yuma, AZ, and Newport News, VA. Terry served during Operation Dessert Storm as well. While serving in the U.S. Army for 17 yrs, Terry also worked in the roofing industry on the evenings and weekends. He helped contractor friends as well as doing roofs on his own. No longer living in Indiana, Terry learned roofing standards in a variety of states and locals. Upon completing his U.S. Army career, Terry returned to his home in Indiana in 1996. From his past experiences with a variety of personalities in the roofing industry, Terry decided he didn’t want to be like the typical stereotype of a roofer! His new roofing company would provide workers who were clean cut and not looking like you just got out prison!!! It’s amazing how business prospered! We showed up on time to give someone an estimate and then showing up on time to do the work!!! (Timeliness was another trait Terry learned in his years in the military!) As an added bonus, we would come back if there was a problem! Our customers wanted to know their roofer wouldn’t disappear from the planet after the last nail was driven into the roof! Therefore Lyons Roofing was born!
