About Macclesfield RUFC

Currently playing in Regional 1 North West, Cheshire Cup Champions 2023, Papa John’s Plate Winners 2023 and 2nd XV League Champions. A family rugby club boasting a large and vibrant Mini & Youth Section and 3 senior men's XV’s. We also have a thriving and growing senior Women's team. Macclesfield Rugby Union Football Club is a totally inclusive organisation which believes in developing its players throughout their journey from Mini to Junior and Youth rugby, and eventually into the senior game where the National Stage beckons to showcase their skills. Situated in 27 acres of Cheshire green belt the Club fields’ three senior sides and a comprehensive, successful range of Youth, Mini and Junior sides and a Women's XV. After having a number of different grounds, M.R.U.F.C. came to Priory Park in 1980, which is just a “stone’s throw” away from its first ever site in 1877. Among a number of notable land marks since the move, an extremely significant one involved M.R.U.F.C. being one of only 12 Clubs who took part in the RFU’s first structured pilot league known as the “North West Girobank League”. The success of this trial helped give the RFU the impetus to roll out its league system over the whole country and since that first pilot scheme back in the mid-eighties Macclesfield RUFC have always been involved in the League structure.
