Heating Oil Distribution MacFarlane Oil Founder, Peter MacFarlane, was born in Boston's South End in 1919. Son to a widowed mother of three, Peter began working in the oil business at the early age of twelve. He worked part time, after school, delivering oil in five-gallon cans. Following service in World War II, Peter returned to the oil business he had worked for before the war until 1946 when he purchased the business. MacFarlane Oil started out as a one-truck operation. Peter delivered the oil, serviced the burners, and installed new equipment by himself. Peter's wife Frieda managed the book keeping and correspondence, while raising a family of five. Since MacFarlane Oil's inception in 1946, we have always tried to achieve new levels of performance. Along with Stanley Peterson, from the Waltham Oil Burner Company, Peter worked to improve the Waltham Shell head burner which was a technological breakthrough for it's time. Since the passing of Peter MacFarlane in 1987, his son Scott has operated MacFarlane Oil. Scott continues this tradition of self improvement in order to pass the benefits on to our loyal customers. MacFarlane Oil is dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality service along with maintaining a personal relationship. We use the best equipment technology has to offer, thus ensuring customers will receive reliable, efficient service at all times. Scott continues to be active in many of the industry's organizations. He is on the Board of directors for The Better Home Heat Council and is a Director of the New England Fuel Institute.
