About Macleans Outdoor

Maclean’s Outdoor was founded by Rob Maclean in Niagara Wine Country when his passion for grilling led him to experiment using wood from wine barrels for his smoker. Realizing barrel wood chips gave food a wonderful and delicious flavour, he started his business using retired wine barrels from local wineries. Success came quickly and he soon expanded to create the world’s first Liquor Barrel Smoking Chip Collection, including Bourbon, Scotch and Rum flavours. By 2018, the business had outgrown its existing premises and moved to its current location, installing a fully automated production line and offering a range of 20 products in four main categories – Signature Liquor Barrel Chips; Natural Hardwood Chips; an innovative Blend of Liquor Barrel and Fruit Wood Chips, and an expanding range of Pellets. In 2019, we started offering Private Labelling to our largest customers. Today, MacLean’s Outdoor can be found in retailers across North America and is expanding into international markets including Europe and Australia. Rob retains his passion for creating new products and flavours, constantly adding new grilling experiences for his customers.
