The Centre for Housing and Urban Research at Macquarie University is an interdisciplinary centre - drawing together researchers from planning, geography, sociology, anthropology, law, management, economics, finance, criminology, history, and critical Indigenous studies - that conducts research on some of the most significant challenges facing societies in Australia and beyond. The Centre for Housing and Urban Research has three broad areas of focus: • Urban Policy and Planning • Housing and Home • Public, Caring and Just Urbanisms Specific areas of research expertise include: housing supply and affordability, urban climate change adaptation, urban disaster resilience and post-disaster policy, regulatory planning reform, economic development and innovation, urban regeneration, social/affordable housing policy, precarious housing, housing finance, urban population change, housing as home, public engagement and activism, placemaking and public space, social and caring infrastructure, urban food justice, and carceral urbanism. The Centre undertakes research in collaboration with a range of stakeholders, including local communities, non-profit organisations, government departments and the private sector.
