We are ALL about establishing and providing the best internet access that is available in and around the Madison County Virginia area. We are speaking of Gigabit speed Internet. Fiber Optic is the very best internet available today. Our plan is to tap into this technology and then as quickly as possible, provide it to ALL residents within the county of Madison Virginia. Established companies that provide this service have no plans to provide this kind of service to Rural areas like Madison, Culpeper, Orange, Rappahannock and Green counties. They operate underground and the terrain and population does not encourage them to pursue coverage in these areas. Once we have achieved our goal of coverage in Madison, we will then proceed to expand this service to all of the surrounding areas: Rappahannock, Culpeper, Green and Orange Counties. The ULTIMATE GOAL is to have complete Gigabit Internet that encompasses ALL of the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative Service Area. So if you are a current or future REC customer, you too will be eligible to have Gigabit internet speeds. This is initially a 5 year project for Madison. Once this core is established the total coverage area will begin to expand to surrounding areas. This an Arial Project, so time will be accelerated over the time needed for Underground installation. This is a HUGE Plus. It means people will gain truly acceptable internet much faster than running lines underground. The end result will be "Gigabit Internet for ALL". We will soon be seeking "Public Investment", so please follow us and watch for your opportunity to invest in this project. Madison Gigabit intends to hire locally. Many jobs will potentially be created. Our desire is to hire local residents initially, then expanding beyond Madison as the need arises.
