Palestinians. War. Peace. Strife. Conict. These are 5 words 18 will not use to describe Israel. Not because they don't exist, but because they have been hashed and rehashed, used and abused.18 will use many other words to describe an Israel that lives and thrives within the context of the aforementioned 5 words. But without mentioning them aloud.18 seeks to put its finger on the pulse of the abundant creative energy that surrounds us. We cover the spectrum of culture to business wherever that creative energy is to be found. 18 was founded by 3 designers. We are sensitive to aesthetic. We are sensitive to innovation. 18 describes this energy, whether through interview, review, op-ed or brief in a detached, understated manner. All our subjects live and create locally but many of them look outwards, globally.All topics and pieces are chosen to spark interest and engage an International audience. We don't preach. We report. And we don't mention the 5 words. We strive to show life as we feel it everyday. We look for inspiration from our subjects. We look for humour wherever possible. We are targeting a broad range of curious individuals who take interest in culture, the arts, design, architecture, as well as innovative business sectors. We take joy in de-contextualizing certain topics. We will cover the architecture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs without talking about Foreign Affairs. We will talk about a vineyard and focus on the evolution of their wine labels. We are whimsical but also focused. Serious but with a wry grin. We are as complex as the country we are covering.
