The company was established in 1998 by Ben & Adrian Lafleur, Australian-born Canadians who saw the need to improve Australia's single-glazed windows. Based on an original design by energy physicist Kenneth Foster at the MIT Centre for Innovation in Boston, the Lafleur brothers adapted their unique solution to Australian conditions. They also added complementary products to further enhance performance, like Solartite (tinting), Soundtite (secondary aluminium windows) as well as weather & acoustic seals to deliver the best possible solution for improving the level of comfort in homes or commercial buildings. By focusing on knowledge, performance and service, Magnetite Australia has earned a respected reputation for both acoustic and thermal window insulation. Every single Magnetite window panel has been customised to achieve the best possible level of comfort for each of our 15,000 happy customers. This reputation for excellence has been recognised with several industry awards, including the Australian Window Association’s 2016 prize for Best Use of Windows and Doors in a Commercial Renovation, for 5 Martin Place, Sydney. Magnetite operates through a franchised network of qualified estimators and installers who service Perth, Adelaide, Launceston, Melbourne, Canberra, Bathurst, Wollongong, Southern Highlands, Sydney & the Central Coast.
