Did you know during pregnancy and into motherhood a woman goes through changes to her mind & body as profound as the ones we all experience in adolescence? Bringing a new life into the world can be an exciting time, but it also brings huge change and can be very challenging. 1 in 4 women experience mental health problems in pregnancy and the 24 months after giving birth, and 1 in 10 suffer post-natal depression. Sadly, suicide is a leading cause of death for women during pregnancy and in the year after giving birth. We’re creating a maternal wellbeing programme to empower women through education and wellbeing classes, to understand the changes they are experiencing and give them a toolkit to help build their resilience and thrive during motherhood. Our solution has two parts: 1. A 28-day intensive education programme, which includes: • an introduction to Matrescence (the profound changes that take place within the mind & body during pregnancy, and into motherhood) • maternal mental health • maternal nutrition • meditation • breathwork • access to a midwife for a weekly Q&A 2. Digital holistic wellbeing classes with: • with digital nature backdrops, which have been shown to help reduce stress and build resilience in academic studies. • varied level exercises • positive affirmations • meditations • an online support community including signposts for further support when needed. We launch autumn 23 and are offering a special discounted package for initial users, who will provide us with feedback and help us improve the programme for future use.
