MHIR has world-class scientists working on the most advanced biomedical problems. Areas of research include: cardiovascular biology, cancer biology & therapeutics, stem & progenitor cell biology, neurobiology, developmental biology & organogenesis, metabolic & hormonal regulation, psychiatric research, and outcomes research & evaluation. MaineHealth Institute for Research is committed to training the next generation biomedical scientists and offers opportunities for students at all levels to gain biomedical research experience, thus providing a pipeline of engagement from high school through college and beyond to graduate work, medical school, PhD programs, and professional employment.
