About Maison Le Vaux

Maison Le Vaux is an architectural/urbanist project to convert office spaces into housing, and revitalize our urban business districts. Residential conversions of inner-city office buildings are sustainable and economically viable alternative to bring life back to neighborhoods struggling with a lack of affordable housing and prohibitive traditional conversion costs. Maison Le Vaux has developed an innovative and affordable solution which uses existing building structures used as a matrix. The envelope is preserved and divided into units • Creating separate units set up around an integrated box built like a piece of furniture containing kitchen/bath/storage/utilities • Refurbishing existing elements (windows, main sewage,....) • Repurposing (windowless) common spaces into community units (storage, meetings rooms, leisure, retail, …..) The Le Vaux Boxes are built offsite, assembled and mounted onsite with minimal impact in a few hours, connected to the main sewage/ using an upflush or downflush plumbing pump system. The configuration is flexible, depending on the building and the target residents. A pre-study determines the floor plans, number of units, common areas. As there is no structural work required, the remodeling time and costs are minimal compared to traditional conversion projects and works for entire buildings, as shown below. At Maison Le Vaux, we believe part of our responsibility, to ensure the success of our projects, is to develop urbanistic ideas. We want to make these revamped neighbourhoods attractive by: - using the first floor level for retail, art galleries, bars .. - use the rooftops for a communal leisure spaces These places will bring interest in the building. We also need to develop connections with the city and private urban developers, to bring life in the vicinity of our buildings, with public spaces ( swimming pool, theaters, parks,...)
