Julian, raised in South Africa, as the 6th generation farmer, left his home farm, to discover the wonder of Belgian chocolate in his travels. Intrigued by the unique craftsmanship of the chocolatiers, he envisioned a new way to present the precious Macadamia to the world: married with the finest Belgian chocolate. “We wanted to bring the best of both worlds together into one unique, and exclusive product, something completely unlike anything seen or tasted before”, Julian Bunge (Founder & CEO) says. The challenge was born: a perfectly balanced combination of the heritage of the Macadamia together with Belgian chocolate. Julian supplied Belgium’s most respected chocolatiers with carefully produced Macadamias from a group of speciality farmers on the East Coast of South Africa, the world’s finest microclimate for this crop. Our Macolatiers, as they are known, enabled innovative new flavors to be birthed, with this precious Macadamia nut. “Our expert Macolatiers ensure the same unique attention to detail is used throughout product creation, pairing, serving and sharing.” Through this groundbreaking process, the Macolat was born.
