The 2010 Manalapan Independent Film Festival seeks diverse, expressive, and passionate short films, videos and animations by independent film artists. Selected short films will screen at the festival in front of a large audience. Winners are selected at the end of the festival, where prizes will be awarded. The MIFF is an excellent opportunity for young filmmakers to show off their work to the community. As well, the festival is devoted to showing an art form rarely seen in by regular movie-goers. This is truly an event to get the youth of our area actively involved with their community and to get a taste of this art form. We must contribute to the effort to keep creative and expressive filmmaking alive in New Jersey. With this festival, not only will the public have an opportunity to see a brand of filmmaking they haven’t seen before, but it will also give young, local filmmakers the chance to showcase their work in front of a large audience. Slated to take place October 15-17 of 2010 (Friday-Sunday), the festival will be much more than a screener. We are planning a number of great events to be included in the festival. There will be seminars about marketing through social media, a screenwriter’s support group, a seminar on special fx makeup, a networking party, and so much more; it will be an excellent opportunity for filmmakers to gather and meet others in their field. Awards will also be handed out to the best films of the festival, as decided by established filmmakers and media related university instructors. There are also plans to create a compilation DVD of all the winning films.
