Since 1873, the Maritime Association of the Port of NY/NJ has been the major voice of the commercial maritime industry in the Port of New York and New Jersey. Advocating for the safety of navigation, security of maritime assets, sustainability of the marine environment and a proponent of cost effective solutions, MAPONY/NJ is committed to ensuring the port retains its competitive position within the global trade community. Acting on behalf of the industry at the local, state and federal levels, MAPONY/NJ has successfully represented the best interests of the port on matters of zoning, permitting, public access, dredging, environmental compliance, ballast water policy, vessel discharge regulation, safe recreational boating, labor, offshore wind, and a host of other issues. As a 501(c)(3) corporation, MAPONY/NJ is in a unique position to advocate on behalf of international ship owners/operators, marine terminals, ship repair facilities, tug and barge owners/operators, admiralty attorneys, pilots, marine underwriters, longshore labor, marine construction firms, port area draymen, agents, port authorities, academics, chandlers, first responders, and others within the maritime industry. MAPONY/NJ represents the interests, positions, and requirements of the commercial maritime industry at many forums, events, hearings, public comment sessions and petitions, and has been successful in protecting and creating opportunities for growth within the industry. MAPONY/NJ membership includes corporate and individual members with a broadly diverse coverage of the industry.
