Richard set up his first design studio in 2001 to pursue his passions for architecture and urban design. He brings to the practice thirty years’ experience in the construction industry. Alex joined Richard as a student and now, several years later, they have created Markland Ball Architects. Alex was short listed for the 2020 Rising Star Award by RIBAJ. Both Richard and Alex take a hands-on approach in all stages of a project. They are particularly adept at understanding clients’ needs and finding workable solutions which fit the budget and create exemplary designs. Over the years, we have had the opportunity to work on many types of project. Whether it is designing a private house or an urban neighbourhood, we approach every project with the same creativity, enthusiasm and care. We have a consistent approach to design which comes through in our buildings – one that is dedicated to clarity and refinement. Each project is developed closely with our clients, addressing their specific needs and aspirations to achieve desired outcomes. We can manage small or large projects through design, planning, costing and construction.
