In 1885, John White opened a small agency in the Town of Oak Bluffs, the Eldridge & White Insurance Agency. Over the next 125 years, through organic growth and acquisitions, the organization evolved into the Martha’s Vineyard Insurance Agency (MVI). Although we remain the largest insurance brokerage on the island, MVI merged with Starkweather & Shepley in 2005. Now we are a critical past of one of the top privately-held insurance brokerages in the USA.
