About Mary's Quilt Records
Mary's Quilt is a non-profit, independent, artist-owned and ran record label collective based in Portland, Oregon which was created to help encourage, support and expose deserving under-served artists to the world (or perhaps help re-invent what it means to be a working musician. Mary's Quilt is 100% not for profit and takes absolutely no money, licensing rights or ownership of anything from the artists who have been chosen to be a part of the MQ record label collective. Mary's Quilt exists entirely through donations and volunteer efforts of our artists and support team. The only requirement Mary's Quilt asks of our members is that they do whatever they can, whenever they can to help other MQ artists in need by donating their passion, knowledge and time. Mary's Quilt's endeavor is to empower our artists to become "successful" independent artists, collective members and most importantly human beings. The Mary's Quilt namesake comes from a quilt that the late Mary Nerheim made and was used as a sound block for Kyle Nerheim-Chereck's early recordings. Mary's legacy lives on through the love and support, encouragement that the quilt of our community of passionate caring collective members can offer to each other. Mary's actual quilt is also always present (as is Mary herself in spirit) in all recordings made at Mary's Quilt Studios in Portland, Oregon.
