About Maryland Legal Services Corporation
The mission of Maryland Legal Services Corporation is to ensure low-income Marylanders have access to stable, efficient and effective civil legal assistance through the distribution of funds to nonprofit legal services organizations. MLSC is a private nonprofit organization, established by the Maryland General Assembly in 1982. MLSC is governed by a nine-person Board of Directors appointed by the Governor of Maryland and confirmed by the Maryland Senate. MLSC administers Maryland's Interest on Lawyer Trust Account (IOLTA) funds, a program also established by state legislation in 1982.
