About Maryon Wynter Chambers
Colin Wynter KC acts as an advocate in complex insurance disputes before the English courts at all levels and in arbitration in London and other commonwealth jurisdictions – he acts for Wynterhill LLP clients but still accepts instructions from other law firms as an advocate, arbitrator or mediator. In 2016, he co-founded together with Stuart Hill the specialist, mixed-practice, policyholder only, specialist insurance law firm, Wynterhill LLP. In 2019, he founded, together with Elton Maryon, his former senior clerk at Devereux Chambers, the specialist barristers’ chambers, Maryon Wynter Chambers. He remains a consultant at Wynterhill LLP. Colin has over thirty years’ experience in insurance law, has appeared in many leading cases over the past two decades and is regarded as a “leading authority” in the field of insurance and praised for his “remarkable appearances before the Supreme Court”. “He combines brilliant client service with innovative legal advice.” – Insurance, Chambers UK. “Highly rated for both advisory and contentious insurance matters.” – Insurance and Reinsurance, Legal 500. He was named 2013 “Insurance QC of the Year” by Chambers & Partners, and was runner-up in Business Week‘s “Lawyer of the Year” award for the same year. Colin has advised on, drafted and assisted in negotiating revisions to the policy wordings of a significant number of the UK’s leading and household name companies. Wynterhill LLP was set up in order to provide a specialist, conflicts-free insurance practice dedicated to the service of insurance policyholders, principally commercial but also, in exceptional cases, individual insureds. The creation of Maryon Wynter Chambers followed in 2019, its purpose being to provide a vehicle through which to receive instructions from professional clients only (ie solicitors) and from both sides of the insurance divide, that is from both policyholders and insurers.
