About Massachusetts Society for Medical Research (MSMR)
The Massachusetts Society for Medical Research (MSMR) is the nation’s oldest biomedical research support organization. Though we have a special focus on research with animal models, we are engaged with IACUCs, IBCs, and IRBs. The Society’s mission: To promote and enhance biomedical and biological research, including the humane care and use of animals, for the improved health and well-being of people, animals and the environment. MSMR is a non-profit member organization whose members involve research hospitals, biotechnology and pharmaceutical firms, and others. Members also include organizations and companies that support biomedical research. We assist members in dealing with issues of public perception, education, legislation, communication, outreach, and professional development training relevant to animal research and its oversight, as well as the connections between animal protection and human protection oversight committees.
