MatchMap Media was created to help non-profits, lawyers, politicians, business owners, and communications and sales staffs relate to their audiences through the use of media. MatchMap Media is the answer to the question of how public relations firms can adapt to the evolving world of media and better serve clients on budgets. Through my experience I find that successful media relations comes down to being genuine, creative, and direct. It does not matter what the form of media, the one aspect that stays constant is the need to relate to and connect with audiences. New and emerging types of media come and go, and this approach applies to all of them. Media relations is certainly evolving, but it is not going away. In fact, the need for media relations is becoming more and more important as there are so many types of media are emerging. We need to get rid of what I call “factory farm public relations” where we churn out generic releases sent to hundreds of people at a time, and instead get to know and connect with our audience. At MatchMap Media, we use old-fashioned techniques to apply to the evolving new media. After all, by definition the word media is just plural for medium. Matchmap Media finds the right medium for you to reach your target audience in three simple steps— Matching, Mapping, and Media. The general concepts are relatable and exchangeable to the process of most traditional public relations shops.
