About Mates That Matter

At Mates That Matter, we believe every man deserves a place to belong. We're a Sydney-based social community program built for men aged 18 to 40—including those with autism, ADHD, social anxiety, and other low-support needs disabilities—who want to make friends, build confidence, and live fuller social lives. Unlike traditional support services, Mates That Matter isn’t clinical or care-based. Instead, we run like a vibrant social club, with weekly events ranging from trivia nights and scavenger hunts to beach days and game tournaments—designed to be fun, inclusive, and structured for connection. Our members don’t just attend events. They grow. They take initiative. They discover what independence and genuine friendship can look like in a world that often overlooks adult men with hidden disabilities. With a simple membership model and a peer-led, strengths-based approach, we’re not just filling a gap in the system—we're building a tribe. One where social skills are practised in real life, not just role-played in a classroom. One where mateship is authentic and sustainable.
