About Matyastik Tax Service

The business was founded in August of 1969 by Bill and Maggie Matyastik to provide tax preparation and filing services. Their beginning was in an office space that they rented in downtown Waco, TX across the street from where an Internal Revenue Service Office used to reside. Bill, who formerly worked for the Internal Revenue Service, was determined to help people recover their money instead of finding ways to collect peoples’ money. In 1980 Bill and Maggie were able to acquire their own office building on 2115 Washington Ave, Waco, TX 76701 and the business is still there to this day. It is fondly referred to as “The Office” by family and friends of the family. In 1998, their son-in-law Jon Spann joined them and learned the trade of the business. On January 1, 2017 Bill and Maggie were ready to entrust Jon with the business. Jon has since expanded the business both in clientele and in services it provides. The business was expanded to provide payroll, bookkeeping, business consulting, and statistical analysis services. In 2024 Jon’s children Stefan Spann and Jackie Harris joined the family business, thus embarking on the 3rd generation of family working in the business.
