About Max Planck Institute for Meteorology
Founded in 1975, the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) is a leading center in advancing the understanding of Earth’s changing climate. Our core mission is to enhance knowledge of the climate system through understanding climate variability and dynamics. MPI-M has contributed significantly to world leading consortia like the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and is recognized globally for pioneering research that includes the in-depth study of the greenhouse effect, surface warming, and the broader impacts of climate change such as energy distribution and precipitation patterns.
