About Maywand Foundation

The Maywand Foundation, established in 2020, is dedicated to providing integrated health services to the most vulnerable children, women, and men across Afghanistan. We find it unacceptable that children’s lives are still being devastated by polio, decades after the introduction of a vaccine. Our mission is to implement a consistent vaccination and immunization schedule to ensure Afghan children receive the basic human rights that are enjoyed by children elsewhere in the world. Our biggest challenges include rugged mountains, harsh winters, and isolated communities lacking access to clean water, electricity, and basic education. We are uniquely positioned to overcome these obstacles by deploying mobile immunization teams that reach every corner of Afghanistan's 34 provinces. Our approach is holistic and multifaceted. In addition to healthcare, we focus on education, road and well construction, farming initiatives, and job creation for women. We understand that improving healthcare alone isn't enough; we must also address broader societal issues such as poverty, unemployment, and the dire conditions faced by women in rural areas. The Maywand Foundation's team includes healthcare professionals, educators, and volunteers, all working tirelessly toward our goals. Our initial target is to reach nearly 500,000 people by June 2021, with our ultimate goal being to extend our services to everyone in need. We are committed to achieving this mission.
