About Mazza's Place

Mazza's Place is a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment for parents of children and adolescents with neurodivergent traits. Parenting a neurodivergent child/adolescent can be challenging and isolating. Neurodivergent young people have brains that work differently to those of a neurotypical person, asking them to do things in the same way as a neurotypical young person, is like trying to bash a square peg into a round hole to make it fit. In the process, it will become battered and bruised. As one parent said, “Why can’t we just make the round hole bigger so that the square peg fits.” We are passionate about supporting parents in understanding how their child’s brain works so that together, we can find ways to make the round hole bigger, to enable these children to thrive and achieve their potential, rather than to feel battered and bruised. Our group and 1:1 sessions will combine exploring and understanding your child, alongside discussing strategies to support them. We will be looking at neurodivergent traits and how these can often be behind a child’s challenges. We want to empower parents with understanding their child’s behaviour and knowing how to support them, rather than using the “neurotypical toolbox” and trying to bash a square peg into a round hole, which in our experience leaves everyone feeling bruised and battered. About us: Mazza, a Child Psychotherapist and Montessori Teacher, and Lottie, an Early Years Teacher, Children’s Yoga Instructor and SENCO, are a mother-daughter team drawing on their years of experience to create a safe, supportive space for parents of neurodiverse children and adolescents. Mazza’s Place was born after they saw firsthand the vital need to support parents navigating their children's neurodivergent traits. They are excited to empower parents and teachers to gain the right tools to ensure that their children can meet their full potential.
