About McJones Energy
McJones Energy is an impact-driven climate innovator dedicated to transforming Africa’s agricultural landscapes through scalable carbon removal and regenerative solutions. Our mission is to regenerate soils, empower smallholder farmers, and deliver measurable climate impact while building inclusive, resilient food systems. Our flagship Olames Biochar Project intercepts Accra’s vast coconut waste stream, converting 800,000 tons of biomass into biochar over 10 years. This will remove more than 2 million tons of CO₂, while restoring degraded soils and improving soil fertility for thousands of smallholder farmers. The initiative creates over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs for women and youth, integrates clean transport with electric waste trucks, and produces soil enhancers like biochar and wood vinegar that boost productivity and climate resilience. By scaling biochar application across West Africa, Olames turns waste into sustainable prosperity and accelerates a circular economy. In parallel, our Enhanced Rock Weathering Program in Ghana applies 13,000 metric tons of basaltic rock dust across 1,500 hectares of farmland, improving yields, capturing CO₂, and revitalizing soils. Over the next 10 years, this project will expand to reach 2 million hectares across Africa, unlocking food security, lifting smallholder farmers from poverty, and establishing a model of regenerative agriculture at continental scale. Together, these projects position McJones Energy at the forefront of climate innovation in Africa—leveraging science, technology, and community engagement to deliver carbon removal at scale while empowering farmers, creating green jobs, and building long-term resilience in the face of climate change.
