About McMaster Mock Trials (MMT)

McMaster Mock Trials (MMT) aims to guide and provide undergraduate students with exemplary hands on experience of Canadian court procedures through a trial simulation. Students will be provided with practical exposure to litigation in areas of criminal and civil proceedings in three month terms. MMT further attempts to expose students to the entire court procedure from affidavits to the final verdict and/or appeal, where they will be provided with the opportunity to act as either lawyers and/or witnesses. They will gain experience in witness examination, opening/closing statement and argument formulation, legal analysis and personal articulation in a court setting. The ultimate goal of MMT is to provide a platform for students where they can become familiar with the trial process and in turn be able to make a more informed career decision. While engaging in the more specific aspects of the court proceedings including the various types of law, students will also develop analytical, critical thinking, reasoning, research and public speaking skills needed to excel in law school and beyond.
