Effective airway management can influence the difference between a patient's positive or devastating outcome. Maintaining adequate ventilation is one of the essential tasks airway experts do. The first and only distal pharyngeal airway (DPA) is a "smarter, not harder" tool and technique to decrease hypoxia at a moment's notice to improve patient outcomes and decrease healthcare costs. The DPA or McMurray Enhanced Airway (MEA) delivers oxygen directly into the pharynx. Consider using the DPA in populations prone to hypoxia: e.g., obese, aging, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), bearded, and patients with comorbidities, which includes most patients. Apneic oxygenation is now a suggested recommendation of the ASA Difficult Airway Algorithm. • The only airway that fits alongside the EGD bite block. • Simplifies provider ease-of-insertion; no setup needed. • Decreases need for chin lifts and jaw thrusts to decrease post chin/jaw pain in patients and frees up provider's hands. • Has a built-in cushioned elongated bite block- to protect teeth and allow sizing variations.
