About Meals on Wheels Inc
Meals on Wheels SA (MoWSA) is SA's largest community based volunteer organisation. With over 8000 in the volunteer workforce and around 30 paid staff, MoWSA follows a delivered meal model that's almost 60 years old. MoWSA offers delivered meals for up to 7 days a week, for eligible people in South Australia. Each weekday friendly volunteers home deliver delicious, hot and nutritious three course meals with a smile! For weekends, public holidays and on days when people might need to be away, we can arrange for some delicious meals to be delivered in advance, ready to just heat and serve. Our meals are diabetic friendly and also include gluten free and other special meal options. Someone you know, may be; in their senior years, recovering after hospitalisation, a major illness or surgery, a person with a disability, a carer, or needing assistance due to a special circumstance.People with a wide variety of support needs, not just meals for seniors. E.g.unable to prepare a meal or shop for themselves with ease Referrals can come from anywhere, including; family members, friends and even by referring yourself! We want to make it as easy as possible. It’s that simple. No means test as eligibility is based on need, no contracts and no waiting list. Formal referrals are also happily accepted from general practitioners, heath care professionals, community care providers or the local council.
