About Mediart International
The main objective of Mediart International is to promote literature and the culture of reading in Croatia. From its establishment in 2014, Mediart International has successfully organized several literary events in Zagreb, Croatia; Europea in the Backyard (2013-2017) and Zagreb Book Festival (2015-2017). Zagreb Book Festival is designed to promote contemporary literature among Croatian readership in order to additionally popularize reading. Every year, the festival is being organized in close cooperation with a partner country (Sweden 2015, Ireland 2016, Austria 2017). The idea behind it is to promote culture and contemporary literature not only of the partner country, but also of all of the countries that participate as guests. Europea in the Backyard is designed to introduce reputable and well-received European authors to the Croatian readership by promoting their books on organized events. In that context, Mediart International has had a privilege to host numerous prominent European writers over the years.
