Our history The concept of Medical Associates of the Lehigh Valley began in 1993, when discussions were taking place concerning the impending changes in medical care in our region. "Many of us had heard about the disruption of patient care caused by these changes in other communities throughout the country," comments Dr. Tom Brandecker, the first president of MATLV. "It became increasingly clear that we, as primary care physicians, had to take the pro-active steps necessary to ensure that patient care in the Lehigh Valley would not suffer as a result of these changes. Medical Associates was formed with this simple concept in mind."
