About Medical Specialist Group

The Medical Specialist Group is at the heart of health care in Guernsey, providing high quality affordable specialist health services to the people of Guernsey, Alderney and Herm. We are a partnership of 34 consultants, and we employ around 20 associate consultant specialists and 100 staff. The needs of our patients come first, always. We are committed to patient safety and clinical excellence in all we do. We work as one team and treat each other with respect. We value local partnerships. And we focus on the long term, investing in the future and committed to sustainability. Before a group of doctors set up the MSG in 1992, most patients who needed specialist examination or treatment had to travel to the UK. Today we provide an extensive range of services at no direct cost to patients under our contract with the States of Guernsey’s Committee for Health and Social Care. We also offer private healthcare and additional paid-for services such as executive health screening or cosmetic surgery. Our consultants and staff all live locally and immerse themselves in various aspects of island life outside their professional commitments – whether that be socially, in sport or undertaking charitable activities. Guernsey is renowned for its sandy beaches and cliff walks, mild climate, and proximity to France. It offers a high standard of living in a beautiful environment where people care about each other and the community in which they live.
