Megaform Ltd are proud designers, manufacturers, and suppliers of the next generation ICF system (Insulated Concrete Formwork) trademarked MegaformICF. An alternative to conventional building methods, this technically advanced product is the result of extensive international research and building/ construction industry experience by business owner, and designer Philip Blair. Phil studied building technologies in Europe where he realised most systems didn’t meet New Zealand’s stringent building codes, and failed to meet modern building and architectural design requirements. This inspired his design of a new product that would meet earthquake, cyclone, and advanced insulation codes, while also improving application. This ICF system went on to win the NZIOB James Hardie Awards for the Excellence in the building Professions 1998, and was tested during the 2011 Christchurch earthquake - It is now the only building standing, left structurally sound, in the red zone of Kilmore street. Further construction experience in Australia, studying local building technology there, and the impact of the extreme weather conditions, supported product development for Megaform’s latest advanced alternative to conventional building products - MegaformICF’s unique design supplies superior structural strength for residential and commercial developments - solid reinforced concrete and polystyrene formwork providing ultimate insulation and durability. Contrary to what many think, Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) has a low impact on the environment. EPS plays a positive role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions. EPS is safe as it does not release toxic or harmful substances and contains no organic material to inhibit the growth of micro-organisms and moulds.
