mekkit.com is a Manchester based laser cutting, laser engraving and 3D printing service company, founded in 2013. We serve the whole of the UK (and a few international clients) with our knowledge and experience of the latest high tech production methods. What sets us apart is our insistence on using the best available tool for the job - not all laser cutters are the same, and not all materials and processes are suitable for every job. In addition our founder, Simon Denvers, is an award winning designer with wide experience of what works, what doesn't work, and what could work with a bit of tweaking. What we do and who we work with varies - our work has appeared in places including Harrods, John Lewis, Not On The High Street, NHS and the British Museum, but we also we also work with one man bands doing one off works of art, or just people looking for a unique gift for their partner. We also do a lot of business with engineering companies making prototype parts before they commit the design to injection moulding. We laser engrave and cut a huge range of materials including: - wood including birch ply and MDF - veneers - acrylic/perspex - paper & card - PTFE - fabric - polystyrene We use a combination of Epilog lasers and Chinese built "generic" lasers, depending on the job requirement. Both have their advantages and disadvantages and we'll always use the best tool for the job. We 3D print on our Formlabs Form1+, which uses stereolithography rather than FDM. The end result is much more professional! Being based in the North we're also generally more cost effective than other companies, with the majority of the work done by email, Dropbox and Royal Mail. We do get busy at times but try to answer emails as quickly as possible.
