About Mel Blount Youth Leadership Initiative

Mel Blount is a former Pittsburgh Steeler cornerback, a five-time Pro-Bowler and four-time Super Bowl Champion and a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee. He is considered one of the best all-time cornerbacks, but his athletic accolades are not his entire legacy. Mel has committed and dedicated the past 34 years to impacting and influencing the lives of youth. Mel has carried the legacy of his parents, and as a deeply committed family-man Mel has been a father-figure to many who did not have a positive influence in their home. The mission of the Mel Blount Youth Leadership Initiative is to provide youth with programs where they will have a healthy environment to learn, work, play and develop principles of respect, responsibility, and leadership. Our main message is this: in order to succeed in life, you must work hard, be accountable, and help others. We believe that every young person can grow into a leader. We also believe that it takes a principled, active community to raise principled, active citizens. And there’s never been a better time to get involved.
