About Melletted a helyem Egyesület - Hungarian Preterm Patient Association

The Association brings together doctors, medical professionals, psychologists, obstetricians and parent representatives of premature children in order to improve the quality of care and outcomes. In order to achieve our goals, our main activities are to provide evidence based medical training for physicians and healthcare professionals performing prenatal care and work towards the implementation of family-centered care principles and the 24hours presence of parents in our neonatal units. Our association is the only registered patient organisation in Hungary focusing on preterm birth. On our digital platforms (webpage, social media) we provide evidence based and up-to-date information on premature birth-related illnesses, parents' mental and physical challenges, coping strategies, professional help and social support, which effectively helps parents to find their way in the uncontrollable amount of information on internet. The uniqueness of our website is that the content editing is carried out jointly by the parents, nurses and doctors. In this way, the published content is evidence based, reliable and easy to understand, thereby improving communication between professionals and parents. We strongly believe in the dissemination of international best practices, the association has exclusive rights to deliver this training in Hungary, implementation is underway and, as shown on the map of Hungary, only one NICU level III specialists are still to be trained. The next phase of the project will be the training of 8 NICU level II specialists. We developed a Hungarian NICU app to improve the immediate therapeutic results for parents and premature babies during their hospital stay. The app will enable us measure the amount of pumped breast milk, the method and the length of feeding, what food is given to the babies, the rate of growth and weight gain and the feeding positions also affect the success of feeding and breastfeeding.
