Founded in 1916, Mendes & Mount LLP is one of the largest firms in the country devoted exclusively to the practice of insurance law. A marine-oriented practice at its inception, a robust non-marine practice soon developed as the fields of our clients' commercial activity broadened. Indeed, our role in such maritime settlements connected to vessels known as the Brittania, the Speedwell, the Powhattan, and the Lusitania expanded to such notable non-marine events as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse (1940), the Great Salad Oil Swindle (1963) the Staten Island Tank Explosion (1973) and infamous J. David Domenelli ponzi scheme (1984). With client demand, the Firm’s litigation and claims servicing capabilities were enhanced to meet the complex challenges posed by environmental and toxic tort liabilities. And into a new century, with legal talent and technology, these capabilities have been enpanded to address any insurance issue arising in the fields of professional liability, healthcare, aerospace, energy and now, cyber data privacy and security.
