About Mental Health Connections
Mental Health Connections located in Concord, CA, operates Connections House- located in Concord, CA; the Peer Connections Centers- located in Antioch, San Pablo, and Concord, CA; and Connection Transit Support. Connections House provides a safe, welcoming place, where participants (called members), recovering from mental illness, build on personal strengths instead of focusing on illness. Members work as colleagues with peers and a small staff to maintain recovery and prevent relapse through work and work-mediated relationships. Members learn vocational and social skills while doing everything involved in running the day-to-day operations of the Clubhouse's work-ordered day. During the course of their participation in our Clubhouse, members gain access to opportunities to rejoin the worlds of friendship, employment and education, and to the services and support they may individually need to continue their recovery. At Connection House, we believe that people with mental illness can and do lead normal, productive lives. The Peer Connection Centers provide self-help/peer support groups, social/recreational activities, educational supports, and linkages to community resources in the East, Central and West regions of Contra Costa County. Peer Connection Centers will refer any peer members seeking employment and/or school enrollment to Connections House for vocational supports. They provide transportation, when possible, by the Connection Transit Support program, for individuals participating in the Peer Connection Centers. Assist CCBHS in supporting Service Provider Individualized Recovery Intensive Training (SPIRIT) offered in partnership with Contra Costa Community College and CCBHS’s Office for Consumer Empowerment Connection Transit Supports is an inhouse program to assist members of Connections House and the Peer Connection Centers to get their needs met by learning to navigate the transportation supports available in Contra Costa County.
