About MENTOR Rhode Island

We envision a Rhode Island where all youth are connected to relationships with adults who inspire and support them. All youth will have role models who provide a road map for lifelong success and achievement. Our mission is to ensure youth have access to the motivational and supportive relationships they need to grow into confident, successful adults MENTOR Rhode Island coordinates school-based mentoring programs in Warwick, Woonsocket, Cranston, Pawtucket, and Newport/Middletown serving nearly 300 students! The vast majority of teachers, parents, mentors, and mentees report high satisfaction levels with the program as well as improved academic and social indicators for mentees. MENTOR Rhode Island supports a statewide network of 57 mentoring programs serving 32 Rhode Island cities and towns. MENTOR Rhode Island provides these programs training in the best practices in mentoring (The Elements of Effective Practice), and assists them with recruitment and overall advocacy for mentoring. Combined with its direct service programs more than 5,000 young people are being served by MENTOR Rhode Island and its partners. MENTOR Rhode Island serves as Rhode Island’s only technical assistance provider for the National Mentoring Resource Center; assisting both network partners and other organizations who want to create or improve their mentoring program.
