About Mentoring Individuals into New Territory through Education (MINTeD)

Our Mission: Our mission is to educate, connect, and empower the SE community, especially our youth, by providing resources that foster understanding of our history, identity, and culture. We aim to nurture a sense of belonging, develop a strong sense of identity, cultivate leadership skills, and preserve our cultural heritage. We believe every community deserves to be seen, celebrated, and accepted. Our identities are not defined by oppression or intergenerational trauma. Through learning and connection, we strive to break harmful cycles and nurture healing—one generation at a time. Our Projects: • Main Event: An annual leadership and unity retreat for youth in grades 6 through 12, and recent high school graduates from Oregon and SW Washington. • Year-Round Engagement: Activities for youth to connect with community partners, building relationships and applying skills and knowledge acquired through the retreat. Our Priorities: Our primary focus will be to continue the leadership and unity retreat while incorporating activities to preserve and elevate our cultural heritage. Projects include: • Oral history initiatives • Information events • Guest speakers • Cultural events • Scholarships Future Projects: Looking ahead, we plan to introduce: • Financial wellness and literacy education • Tours of our countries of origin • A mentorship program for youth • An educational training center for the Hmong, Iu Mien, Lao, Khmer, and Burmese communities
