We founded Merchant Opportunities Fund in 2010 to put much needed capital into the hands of Canadians underserved by the banking system while generating an attractive, consistent and highly diversified return for our investors. Our mission has been to provide our investors with what we see as the best of the private and public markets: returns typically only accessible to institutional or accredited investors through private investments, coupled with greater liquidity options through flexible redemption rights. We do this by investing in short-term, small to mid-sized business credit and consumer loans originated by successful specialty finance companies. Coupled with our financial acumen and demonstrated track record as sophisticated, disciplined risk managers, we are uniquely positioned to assess, select and manage specialty finance portfolios for the long-haul.
