About Merpak Envelopes (Pty)
Established in 1968, Merpak is the largest specialised envelope manufacturing and printing company in Southern Africa, and currently holds around 80% share in the local market. Merpak is privately owned and is a level 3 value adding BEE enterprise, allowing for 137.5% BEE procurement spend recognition. We manufacture, print and convert the widest range of envelopes with a complete selection of windows, flap gums and paper stocks. The production facility has capacity to produce in excess of 3 million envelopes per day during busy cycles. The business serves a wide range of clients, from South Africa's 4 major banks to various large retailers, pharmacy chains, stationers/office suppliers and insurance/medical scheme providers. We also service small to medium enterprises in various sectors, especially on lower volumes. Merpak is dedicated to sustainability and the well being of our environment, and current research suggests that paper may be the only truly sustainable way to communicate. www.twosides.info Paper is manufactured from a variety of sustainable and managed sources of pulp. Trees are farmed to be harvested for paper and other uses. Managed plantations produce far more oxygen and sequest more carbon di-oxide than mature forests. More and more paper mills are relying on biomass as an important alternative to fossil fuels in the generation of power for the paper making process. Merpak will only use paper that carries the FSC mark confirming that the paper can be traced through its life cycle to the managed and sustainable plantations where it was grown. Merpak also offers envelopes manufactured from 100% post-consumer waste pulp as well as envelopes made from paper sourced from sugar cane waste. In-house environmental initiatives of reducing power consumption, reducing noise pollution and reducing, reusing and recycling consumables continue to receive attention.
