About Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center
Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit theatre located in Huntsville, Alabama. Merrimack Hall presents a full theatrical season of touring off-Broadway plays, concerts, comedians and dance performances. Merrimack Hall’s mission is to provide educational and performance opportunities to Huntsville’s emerging and established performers. Since opening in 2007, Merrimack Hall has given back more than $250,000 to the community through its STAR Outreach program: scholarships to master classes with visiting performers; tickets to the underserved; arts education for children with special needs; resources for other local nonprofit organizations. The cornerstone of the STAR program is the Johnny Stallings Arts Program for children and teens with special needs. The founders believe that performing arts education should be accessible to all segments of our population. With that goal in mind, the Merrimack Hall staff has developed performing arts education programs that serve children ages 3-12 who live with a variety of disabilities, challenges and diagnoses such as Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, autism, gross motor developmental delays, cognitive delays and others. Today, Merrimack Hall offer three programs, Dance Your Dreams!, Camp Merrimack, and Project UP which provide year-round performing arts education to children and teens with special needs, at little to no cost to their families.
