Mertech Marine (established 1998) has been pioneering and innovating turnkey solutions to the submarine telecommunication industry since 2004. Mertech Marine recovers out of service cables using its own marine fleet, dismantles and recycles cables in our own factories. Mertech Marine also offers freighting, route survey, relay and related submarine services according International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) and International recommendations. Mertech Marine owns an impressive portfolio of out of service cables across the globe (Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Pacific Ocean, and Indian Ocean) which will be recovered for recycling and in certain instances re-use / re-lay in cases where the business case makes sense. To date we have successfully recovered and recycled close to 100,000km of cable using our own resources. Our marine division is run by an exceptionally experienced team of marine / cable recovery experts. Currently we operate a fleet of three vessels which have been specially customised for our particular needs with sufficient flexibility to also be able to provide cable freighting and general cargo services. We have partnered with WIND in the Netherlands to augment our marine capability in order to further expand our service offering to the submarine telecommunication cable industry. Our environmentally friendly dismantling facility is located in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where we provide employment for 180 factory workers. Our factory is a world first where we pioneered the process of mechanically dismantling submarine telecommunication cables in an environmentally friendly way. The entire factory was custom designed and built by our team of engineers after years of research and development. Our factory is ISO9001, 14001 certified.
